Il Sinclair ZX 81 è un home computer basato sul processore Zilog Z80A prodotto da Sinclair Research. Fu presentato nel 1981 come successore del Sinclair ZX80. Il computer era acquistabile sia già assemblato sia, ad un costo inferiore, come kit da montare. Il case fu disegnato da Rick Dickinson. Come lo ZX80, anche lo ZX81 disponeva di una semplice uscita TV, caricava e salvava i programmi tramite un normale registratore a cassette e presentava una particolare tastiera a membrana.

Lo ZX81 ha avuto un successo sopra ogni aspettativa: nonostante la sua semplicità, ne sono stati venduti più di 1 milione di esemplari.

ZX Spectrum 128

Sinclair developed the ZX Spectrum 128 (code-named Derby) in conjunction with their Spanish distributor Investrónica.^[21] Investrónica had helped adapt the ZX Spectrum+ to the Spanish market after the Spanish government introduced a special tax on all computers with 64 KB RAM or less,^[22] and a law which obliged all computers sold in Spain to support the Spanish alphabet (such as ñ) and show messages in Spanish.^[23]

Il Sinclair ZX80 è un home computer costruito nel 1980 da Clive Sinclair, basato sul microprocessore NEC µPD780C-1 (un clone dello Zilog Z80A) con clock a 3,25 MHz. L’importanza storica dello ZX80 risiede nel fatto che questo computer segnò il passaggio dal mondo hobbistico a quello dell’elettronica di consumo:^[2] prima di esso, infatti, i computer o erano venduti in kit di montaggio, economici ma difficili da assemblare per i non esperti, o costose macchine professionali già pronte all’uso come il Commodore PET o il Radio Shack TRS-80. Lo ZX80 veniva invece offerto (solo per corrispondenza) al competitivo prezzo di £ 79,95 in versione kit o £ 99,95 in versione assemblata.^[2]

The ZX Spectrum (the “Z” is pronounced “Zed” from its original British English branding) is an 8-bit personal home computer released in the United Kingdom in 1982 by Sinclair Research Ltd. Referred to during development as the ZX81 Colour and ZX82,^[2][3] the machine was launched as the ZX Spectrum by Sinclair to highlight the machine’s colour display, compared with the black-and-white of its predecessor, the Sinclair ZX81.^[4] The Spectrum was ultimately released as eight different models, ranging from the entry level model with 16 KB RAM released in 1982 to the ZX Spectrum +3 with 128 KB RAM and built in floppy disk drive in 1987; together they sold in excess of 5 million units worldwide.

MGT Sam Coupé

The SAM Coupé (Pronounced: “Sam Koo-Pay” from its original British English branding) is an 8-bit British home computer that was first released in late 1989. It is commonly considered a clone of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer, since it features a compatible screen mode and emulated compatibility, and it was marketed as a logical upgrade from the Spectrum. It was originally manufactured by Miles Gordon Technology (MGT), based in Swansea in the United Kingdom.
